Low-income groups, poor families and other marginalized sections living in the slums find it hard to
rebuild their livelihood after a natural calamity or a man-made disaster disrupts their source of
income. Disasters, whether man-made or natural, are a part of life but if backed with a sustainable
livelihood, it becomes easy for an individual to recover from the shock of such incidents. Miles2Smile
assists people financially in times of such crises to help them rebuild or revive their businesses. Our
livelihood rebuilding program ‘Ummeed’ has assisted beneficiaries coming from diverse occupations like
bakers, pushcart vendors, vegetable sellers, food-kiosks & shop owners. Our reports are an open
testimony that these beneficiaries were able to revive their business successfully with the fund they
received from us. Our aim is to assist more such people to help them establish sustainable livelihood,
as families are pushed into malnutrition and starvation owing to a lack of capital and income in the
absence of any source of earning. Sustainable livelihood is a right that every individual deserves to
have. Your contributions to this program will enable us to support those people struck with
catastrophes, calamities, or ill fate and develop for them such mechanisms that enhance their quality of
life and make available the resources that prepare them to reach greater heights.
“We strive to bring hope and happiness in their lives to motivate them to kick-start their businesses
after colossal loss in the face”.
